August 25th, 2012Peter Gold: Voted Best Massage Therapist in Portland, Oregon – (Willamette Week, July 2012)

July 25, 2012: Portland’s leading newsweekly, Willamette Week, has named Peter Gold the Best Massage Therapist in Portland in their annual “Best of Portland” awards issue.

The full (glowing!) review of Peter’s licensed massage therapy services…

Peter Gold has a gift—or so he’s been told. “Soon after beginning massage school, I began feeling as though I had an unfair advantage over my classmates,” he explains. “My teachers called it a gift.” That’s right: Gold has the gift of magic hands. The licensed massage therapist has been working in Portland (407 NE 12th Ave., for just over six years, but already he’s been embraced by the achy bodies of the Northwest, even serving as the go-to masseur for the Oregon Ballet. Gold shows his Portland appreciation in everything he uses, from locally crafted lotions and music to his Portland-built massage table. Once you’re on the table, he’s happy to treat your muscles to any number of techniques, from his bread-and-butter blend of deep tissue and Swedish to his personal favorite, the intriguing four-handed massage. Whatever you need, leave it to the magic hands. “I go as deep as people need…but not too deep!” PENELOPE BASS for Willamette Week.

May 24th, 2010The Work’s Continuing Evolution

I find myself energetically calibrating to a new level of sublety and receptivity because of deep constitutional shifts I’ve experienced as a result of my work with master herbalist and acupuncturist Dr. Kamto Lee.  I am sensing energy more clearly now and have increased confidence in my intuition during sessions.  Since enrolling in massage school 10 years ago I’ve always felt graced with the gift of competent touch.  However now, in large part because of my work with Dr. Lee, I feel my original gifts amplified and expanded.  What does this mean for the receiver?  An enhanced experience on the table.  My work remains firmly grounded in deep tissue massage, Shiatsu massage, and Swedish massage, but there is an added undercurrent of intention and depth which allows for a more accurate reply to your body’s needs.

Dear Clients,

As always, I hope this letter finds you well.

In preparation for the coming cold and dry skin season, and to exfoliate all remaining summer skin sludge, I present you with this month’s self care special:

one luxurious facial with Joy ( and her lavish care and delectable, all natural products (so pure you could eat them) for half price when you schedule a massage in October.

This offer is for you, all of my wonderful clients (past and present, chair massage clients included), as well as your family members, co-workers, friends and relatives.

Joy’s facial treatments assume the sorely needed role of sanctuary and reprieve from the too often rushed and chaotic pace of modern life. Before your facial you’ll think it’s an indulgence, during you’ll think it’s a treat, and after you’ll realize it was a necessity.

I hope you take advantage of Joy’s grand generosity and experience the necessity of being pampered.

August 8th, 2009August Newsletter

Dear all,

I want to tell you about three free values in addition to some great massage.

1. Free Coffee: My friend Staci recently opened Aliviar Coffee house at 1737 NE 42nd Ave. and offered all my clients a free cup o’ java.  Just head in and mention Peter Gold Massage and wala: java for you.  If you want to check it out before going in the website is: Aliviar also offers smoothies, bagles, salads, and yummie pastries.

2. Free Ballet: As many of you know I’ve been working for OBT for years and continue to have a great relationship with them  Here are several dates you can catch them for free around town:

On August 14th OBT will be giving a free performance on the hill next to the roses in Washington Park.  They’ll be below on the amphitheatre stage as Mt. Hood and the Portland skyline shimmer in the distance.

On August 27th OBT will be giving a free performance on Alberta Street as part of Last Thursdays on Alberta–always a lively affair.

On August 29th OBT will be giving a free performance in their studios at 818 SE 6th Ave.  This is a great opportunity to a bit of the behind the scenes at OBT as they perform in their practice studio.

For more information about all the events visit:

3. Free 15 minutes of massage if you’re the first to correctly guess the muscle:

The muscle originates on the ishial tuberosity and inserts on the upper medial tibia. Hint: the tendon of this muscle is used to replace the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in re-constructive surgery (like the one I had in February).

There is also plenty of great massage to be had in my office this August and into the fall so if it’s been a while and your body’s asking for some attention, let me know and we’ll set up a massage for you.  Office hours remain Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10 – 6.

Thanks for reading,
