June 23rd, 2009New Ultra Plush and Cushie Face Cradle is Here!

It’s true!  Finally I made the upgrade that I’ve been dreaming about for years and invested in the softest face cradle foam fill available.  This, coupled with the lamb’s wool face cradle covering makes for the softest padding possible for your cheeks and forehead while lying face-down.  Enjoy!

June 23rd, 2009New Location for Sunday Qigong Class

As of June 21st Qigong class will be held on the north side of Laurelhurst Park.  For more information on this class please see the class description.

May 15th, 2009Qigong Classes

What: Weekly morning Qigong classes

When: Every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Where: Laurelhurst Park (next to the pond’s north side)

I will be leading a weekly Qigong class throughout the summer.  My dear friend and co-leader, Doreatha Martin will alternate leading with me.

If you’re not familiar with Qigong, it is a practice that seeks to stimulate, cultivate, integrate, and balance the body’s energetics.  “Qi” means energy in Chinese, and “Gong” means work, thus practicing Qigong works to harmonize the body’s energy.

If you sometimes feel low or hyper, or like you can’t get out of bed in the morning, or you can’t get to sleep in the evening, this practice will help you.  If you want a way to stabilize your body’s energetic peaks and valleys and are tired of the physical, emotional, and financial costs of caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol, Qigong can fill your gap in a way that stimulates and nourishes your body’s natural vitality.  This practice cultivates the missing energies that cause:
psychological
emotional
spiritual
physical imbalances.

It is a way to take responsibility for your life and heal yourself naturally.  Of course there is a time for anti-biotics and knee surgery, but so too is there a time for the medicinal and meditative movements of qigong.  It can fill in many of the gaps Western medicine leaves in the realms of health maintenance and healing.

Qigong is performed mostly stationary with various positions and movements for the limbs and upper body.  Its intensity can be modified for every body type and constitution which makes it ideal for Olympic athletes, those with Fibromyalgia, and elderly people alike.

If you’ve been wanting to try something new, or wondering about Qigong and its benefits I welcome you to experience it as I know it from over 10 years of study and practice.  It is an integrative practice and considered sacred in many parts of the world due to its highly effective healing properties.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.  I hope to see you in class if it feels like the right time for you to make it.

My best,

Peter

P.S. All classes are open to everyone and will be lead at a pace and depth suitable for first timers, beginners, and more seasoned practitioners alike.  The cost of each class will be $10.

December 15th, 2008Singing Bowls

I am pleased to announce the arrival of singing bowls into my practice! For those of you unfamiliar with them, they usually come from the Himalayan region of the world, are handmade, and when pressure is applied to their rims, they…sing! You must come in for a treatment to experience their power in deepening and integrating the work of a session.

December 10th, 2008Graduate School, Knee, and Gratitude

Graduate school is going very well. My intention is to begin utilizing some of the listening skills I am learning during my massage sessions, so if something is on your mind and you would like to get it out, I welcome your venting. Since the state of Oregon does not require a license to listen, nor to offer support, there is no conflict of interest. Once I become a licensed psychologist, you may have to choose between a psychologist or a massage therapist, but that time remains years away.

My knee, though it has made extraordinary progress with the help of Dr. Kamto Lee, needs reconstructive surgery. This will happen in the beginning of February, and depending upon what the doctor finds, could hold me out of the massage room for a couple of months. We shall see. One thing is for certain: I’m fully able to work now and would love to see you in the office.

My healing work continues to emerge and evolve into deeper places of presence, alignment, healing, and wholeness. It is truly a blessing to practice this work–to facilitate reconnection with native health–and it would not be possible without you. Thank you for coming through my door, my life is more of what it can be because of it.
